Parish Mission Focus: South Sudan
All Saints’ Parish is launching a sustained (6-month) mission focus on one area of need in the world: South Sudan.
While there is great suffering and need in many regions across the globe, the Parish’s focus will be to support Barnabas Fund’s Project Joseph which is feeding many of the hungriest Christians in East Africa including 70,000 South Sudanese who fled to Uganda which is also in crisis.
The food crisis in East Africa is escalating and women and children are dying in South Sudan. Starvation beckons for a million South Sudanese as ongoing conflict and the worst drought for many decades have led to crop failure, dried-up water sources and dying livestock. Almost half the population now need assistance to meet their basic nutritional needs. This figure is expected to rise.
To make matters worse, cholera is now spreading among the South Sudanese people.
The need in South Sudan is dire. Our support for South Sudan will be both prayerful and practical, including mission fundraising. More information on how you can help save the lives of starving South Sudanese Christians will follow.
